Prevention
o Stop smoking
o Limit alcohol consumption
o Increase load-bearing excercise
o Calcium intake
o Vitamin D
Treatment

HEADACHE, GIIDNESS,NECK AND LOW BACK PAIN
by Dr. Timothy Lee
Common Neurological Problems:
o Headaches, sakit kepala
o Giddines, pusing
o Neckache, leher
o Back pain, punggung
My relevant concern is for NECK and BACK PAIN:
Most important:
o If pain only in neck or low back, no trapped never.
o If pain or numbness in arms or legs, must see doctors because of trapped nerve.
Second importance:
o Do the right excercise: Put your hand front of your upper face, hold it tightly
Put your hand back of your head, hold it tightly
o Avoid extreme range of movement, esp lifting up of head:
avoid jerking or stretching
avoid badminton, tennis, swimming good for lower back but not for neck
o Sleeping posture: lie on back is best
Pillow care: support head as well as neck
o What you can do to help your sickness:
# Massage
#Medication: pain killer with antiinflamatory effect. Mustle relaxants to relieve muscle spasm
#Physiotherapy such as heat,ultrasound,immobilitzation, traction
#Chorinic pain treatment such as acupuncture, message
#Suregery is the last option
oWhat can we do to help ourself?
#Complete bed rest will settle most acute pain
#avoid bending forward
#Avoid heavy lifting or carring heavy weight
oLow Back Pain Excercise: do it as per example
o Surgery is the last option
#Removal of pressure on the nerves, eg disc (HNP) bones (osteophytes) or tumore
#Spinal fusion to stabilise the spine
